Brazil opened the year 2017 with a new publication “Guia de Informação sobre o Trabalho para Imigrantes e Refugiados” (Guide to Labor Information for Immigrants and Refugees) which reviews all information with which immigrants and refugees should be familiar in order to be in compliance with labor laws.

The Guide not only highlights migrant labor requirements, but it also provides information on the rights of migrants as employees, such as work schedules, minimum pay, contracts, time off, and maternity leave among other important workers’ rights covered by the Constitution of Brazil and other legislation.

The Guide is a joint project produced by Fundación Avina; the International Organization for Migration (IOM); United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); National Committee for Refugees (CONARE); Institute of Migration and Human Rights (IMDH); Hermanas Scalabrianas, Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes y Refugiados, and Brazil’s Ministry of Labor.

The Guide is available in English and Portuguese.
