Eric Leenson, founder of Sol Economics and Social Venture Network (SVN) member, says Cuba has enormous potential to demonstrate what’s possible for sustainable development. Fundación Avina has successfully helped organize meetings with Latin American leaders in the field, co-sponsored visits of a Cuban delegation to Brazil, and convened a broad cross-section of Cuban and international actors for a historic conference in Havana.

In the last decade the Fe y Alegría educational movement (Movimiento de Educación Popular Integral y Promoción Social Fe y Alegría – Fe y Alegría) increased its programs by nearly 60%, from 910,000 students in 15 Latin American countries to 1.5 million in 19 countries.
