Avina is a Latin American foundation working to promote sustainable development in South America, Central America and Mexico, by forging links between social and business leaders.
We work on several programs throughout Latin America, supporting allied organizations at the local, national and regional levels. At the same time, we o foster the creation of new groups to advance our goals in each of the countries where we operate through an incubation program designed to anticipate and address tomorrow’s challenges.
Avina was founded in 1994 by Swiss entrepreneur Stephan Schmidheiny, who inspired the vision and values that guide the organization’s continuing operations.
Avina receives financial support from VIVA Trust, an endowment created by Mr. Schmidheiny to foster sustainable development through alliances between successful and responsible private businesses and philanthropic organizations, promoting leadership and innovation.
