Registrations have opened for the Second Edition of AVINA Awards of Investigative Journalism for Sustainable Development. This is a project of Fundacion AVINA, which is aimed at undertaking cooperation with media outlets and journalists to enhance the public agenda with respect to the relevant issues underlying the search for sustainable development models in Latin America.

(*)In alliance with Daros Latinamerica (Daros Latinamerica is a contemporary art collection located in Zurich, Switzerland, which is implementing a project called Casa Daros in Río de Janeiro, a platform of promotion and appreciation of contemporary art in general and from Latin America specifically, mostly focused on art, education and communication).

These are the values for each award based on the type of media:
6 thousand dollars for TV and 4 thousand dollars for newspapers, magazines, Internet, radio and press agencies. Total resources amount to 250 thousand dollars. We hope to offer over 50 awards!
Who can apply for an award?
Proposals submitted by reporters, photographers, freelance journalists, editors, executive editors, or managing editors are eligible. News pieces by journalists who work for or contribute with Latin American or foreign media will be accepted. In all cases the geographic focus of the proposal must be Latin America.

You can find information related to conditions and procedures at AVINA’s website: www.avina.net. Registrations deadline is on July 1st (Tuesday). Do not leave your registration for the last minute for the application form can take some time to be filled out!
