WHAT WE DO

The goal of Fundación Avina’ Biomes program is to improve quality of life for vulnerable communities so they can access their fundamental rights, be integrated into resilient production chains, and participate in decision making that affects their lives.

We work in a number of different biomes to advocate for public policies, implement on-the-ground solutions, and strengthen the capacities of people, organizations, and networks to contribute to environmental conservation.

DIALOGUE BETWEEN BIOMES: VIEWPOINTS FROM THE GLOBAL SOUTH

Communities across the global South share many of the same challenges: changes in land use, loss of biodiversity, and the impacts of large-scale production activities and climate change.

How can the global South help integrate the work being done in different biomes?

	Communities across the global South share many of the same challenges: changes in land use, loss of biodiversity, and the impacts of large-scale production activities and climate change.
	Governance groups within different biomes have similar interests, such as protecting transborder watersheds, supporting means of livelihood, and encouraging inclusive economic development.
	We celebrate the cultural diversity within our biomes and raise awareness about the knowledge and vision of their many different peoples and communities.
	We strengthen capacities for coordination and joint mobilization. The Biomes program promotes the exchange of knowledge, on-the-ground interventions, and experiences between different biomes in the global South.

Conserving the Pan-Amazon is Latin America’s contribution to the world and our shared future in the midst of the climate emergency.
