WHAT WE DO

Fundación Avina’s Climate program brings visibility to and ensures the inclusion of local voices in global climate agendas, highlighting their crucial role in building effective solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Our strategy prioritizes solutions rooted in nature, climate justice, and equity, while reinforcing coordination between local and global stakeholders. We catalyze inclusive climate actions that integrate local knowledge and innovative approaches to shape the 2030 goals of the global and regional climate agenda.

LINES OF ACTION

Mitigation and adaptation solutions

Create innovative, sustainable, and high-impact climate solutions with local ownership to be implemented in the global South.

Climate governance

Establish and strengthen participatory, inclusive, multi-stakeholder processes to implement climate solutions.

Capacity
building

Facilitate learning exchanges between government and nongovernmental stakeholders (civil society organizations, private sector, Indigenous communities, youth, and others).

OUR AGENDA ON THE GLOBAL LEVEL

Climate Action is one of our three main issues of focus. Rooted in Latin America and the Caribbean, we work alongside our allies throughout the global South to promote and expand climate justice.

Fundación Avina works with its allies to advocate for collaborative processes that promote systemic changes, uphold human dignity, and promote care for the planet in global governance spaces.

For three decades, Avina has successfully built bridges between stakeholders on many different levels and strengthened collaborative efforts in different regions. Our work to shape the global climate agenda, especially our advocacy for the inclusion of non-state actors, has helped local initiatives inform and shape global policies.
