Fundación Avina advances its strategy in Africa 

On May 26, Fundación Avina held the second meeting of its Advisory Council in Africa, in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting marks another step in the Foundation's efforts to expand its presence on the African continent and further embed the Global South perspective into the collaborative processes it fosters. 

The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with the in-person participation of CEO Valeria Scorza, Director of Social Innovation Paula Ellinger, Territorial Strategy Lead Amadou Mbodj, and Council members Dr. Hamady Diop, Dr. Shehnaaz Moosa, and Mahmood Sonday. Rose Maruru and Dr. Phumlani Nkontwana joined virtually. 

"Council members provided key guidance on how best to adapt our strategy to the contextual realities of the continent," said Amadou Mbodj, who has been leading the organization's strategy in the region. 

Fundación Avina is currently part of the Impulsouth, Climate and Care Initiative, Democracy at Work, and MapBiomas initiatives, which have a presence in the following African countries: Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Madagascar, Zambia, Kenya, and Uganda. 

The Foundation aims to ensure that its current and future initiatives are deeply committed to a Global South vision and meaningfully integrated into local contexts. For that reason, the Advisory Council in Africa plays a vital role in shaping Avina's path on the continent.
