We were in Colombia participating in the historic 1st International Conference on the Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels, the first diplomatic gathering on the topic with participation from more than 60 countries.

As a philanthropic organization seeking to generate impact in climate action and in fairer, regenerative economies, this was a key moment for collaboration and coordination.

On Monday, April 27, we organized an unprecedented event to discuss multisectoral efforts aimed at channeling investments toward a just transition. The gathering, titled “Investment Partner Engagement Hub,” which we promoted together with our partner organizations Amazon Conservation Team, Bridging Ventures, Equal Right, and WINGS, brought together representatives from public and private financial institutions, fund managers, and innovative actors with portfolios focused on a just transition.

In addition to the event, we participated in discussions and followed important Conference dialogues aimed at shaping common agendas in response to this global challenge. Our Program Manager, Ximena Torres highlighted the importance of catalytic capital from philanthropy in contributing to responses to this context. She also emphasized how, at Fundación Avina, we seek to add the P for people to public-private philanthropic partnerships, placing people at the center of the major transformations needed to build a more just and sustainable world.
