Fundación Avina is participating in the 4th African Forum on Business and Human Rights in Lusaka, leading an official panel that highlights workers' voices in human rights due diligence processes. The organization reinforces its commitment to social justice and labor agendas in the Global South.
Fundación Avina is participating in the UN Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights in Asia, held in Bangkok, with an official panel focused on centering workers' voices in supply chain due diligence. Alongside key allies from the Democracy and Work Fund, the organization aims to influence public policy and strengthen its positioning in the Global South amid a context of crisis and regulatory shifts.
Fundación Avina joined grassroots recyclers and allies from Latin America in Geneva for the Global Plastics Treaty negotiations. While no consensus was reached, the discussions highlighted the link between plastic pollution, the climate crisis, and social justice, reinforcing inclusive recycling and transformative narratives.
Fundación Avina has now its internal AI policy, reaffirming its commitment to technology that respects human rights, promotes equity, and supports the common good. AI is seen as a support tool—not a replacement for human decision-making—and the organization is fostering training and dialogue spaces for its ethical implementation.
Fundación Avina is strengthening its presence in Africa through initiatives and participation in key discussions in countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, and Ghana, aiming to drive sustainable transformations that respect human dignity and the planet.
Fundación Avina took part in the 16th Regional Conference on Women, promoting care as a cross-cutting foundation for democracy, climate, and the economy. Through events and partnerships, it amplified the voices of domestic workers and land defenders, advocating for comprehensive care policies and climate justice from an intersectional perspective.
On August 21, we had the honor of being present, through the participation of Shannon Music, at the Global Ethical Balance Dialogue (BEG), held in Bogotá, Colombia.

Until August 14, Fundación Avina’s team is taking part in the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5.2), a crucial space to reach an agreement on a legally binding international treaty to end plastic pollution.
