The organization leads an official panel focused on centering workers’ voices in supply chains.

From September 15 to 19, 2025, Fundación Avina is participating in the UN Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights in Asia, held in Bangkok, Thailand. The event brings together over 1,200 representatives from governments, businesses, civil society, and workers’ organizations, under the theme:
“Consolidating progress and strengthening regional leadership on human rights in times of crisis.”

The forum takes place in a global context marked by geopolitical tensions, regulatory shifts, and growing resistance to human rights and ESG standards.

Official panel: centering workers’ voices

Fundación Avina is leading one of the forum’s official panels, titled:
“Centering Workers’ Voices in Supply Chain Due Diligence.”
The session is organized in collaboration with key allies from the Democracy and Work Fund, part of Avina’s labor innovation agenda.

Panel participants include:

  • FOSPI (Taiwan) – Workers’ voices in the fishing sector
  • The New Factory (Indonesia) – Textile waste cooperative
  • Sembada Bersama (Indonesia) – Nickel industry workers
  • Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) – Global expertise in corporate accountability

Strategic presence and global impact

Avina’s presence at the forum is strategic to amplify workers’ voices, ensuring their realities are reflected in public policy discussions and responsible business practices.

The organization also aims to influence the regional agenda and strengthen its positioning in the Global South. The discussions in Bangkok will directly impact the implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in Asian supply chains.
