Fundación Avina at COP29: Global South Perspectives on global issues

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) takes place from November 11 to 22, bringing together global leaders, experts, organizations, and activists to intensify actions to combat the climate crisis. Held in Baku, Azerbaijan, this edition is a crucial step toward COP30, which will be hosted in Belém, Brazil, in 2025.

One of the focuses of the event in Baku will be the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), which aims to balance funding between climate mitigation and adaptation. In addition to defining financial commitments, COP29 seeks to establish mechanisms that ensure an agile and unconditional flow of funds, aligned with the urgency of climate challenges. Another important point is the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA), with the expectation that this COP will advance in defining guidelines, objectives, and indicators to assess adaptation progress.

Fundación Avina will participate in COP29 with a series of events organized in partnership with strategic alliances. Topics such as financing, resilience, philanthropy, and locally adapted solutions will be part of Avina’s agenda. Check out the full program on the special page created for the convention and see the panel titles here:
