Information as a public asset: learn about the grants open for journalists in Latin America with the support of Fundación Avina
What do journalism and collaborative impact have in common?
Everything. Information as a public asset is fundamental for democracies, and innovative journalism is key in this process. With 30 years of articulating collaborative impact from the Global South, Fundación Avina, together with Fundación Gabo, develops the Collaborative Research Journalism Grants (Becas ColaborAcción), aimed at cooperating with media outlets and journalists to enrich the public agenda. The grants serve as an incentive, offering financial and technical support to innovative investigative journalism proposals that provide excellent coverage of initiatives related to collaborative impact models in Latin America.
In this journey, Avina has already launched 6 editions of open calls for proposals, and currently, there are two open for applications. Other organizations such as Latin Clima, the Costa Rican Journalists Association, Habitat for Humanity, among others, have supported Fundación Avina and Fundación Gabo on this path with financial and thematic contributions to strengthen journalism productions that generate powerful and high-quality investigations.
