
Fundación Avina Welcomes Two New Members to Its Board of Directors
Is pleased to announce that Valmir Ortega and Guillermo Scallan are now part of its Board of Directors. Both bring valuable experience that will strengthen Avina's mission of fostering collaborative impact towards a sustainable and just world.

Valmir Ortega, a geographer specializing in environmental policies and sustainable development. He currently leads Belterra Agroflorestas and Rio Capim Agrossilvipastoril, companies dedicated to forest restoration and sustainable land use practices. He has held key positions such as Secretary of Environment in Pará and Director of Ecosystems at IBAMA. Additionally, he co-founded the Instituto Conexões Sustentáveis (CONEXSUS), promoting social innovation and sustainable economic development.

Guillermo Scallan is Vice President of Fundación Dinero y Conciencia and founder of the BELAT Investment Platform, a pioneering initiative in the development of Latin America’s first ethical bank. He also chairs the Fundación Educacional Waldorf Gabriela Mistral and Grupo Cultiva, a non-profit corporation and B Corporation.
Gabriel Baracatt, President of Fundación Avina, stated: “The addition of Valmir and Guillermo strengthens our Board of Directors and energizes the organization to face current challenges, facilitating profound transformations that promote social justice and sustainability from the Global South.”
Anamaria Schindler, Julio Madrazo, Txai Suruí, Pamela Ríos, Valeria Scorza, and President Gabriel Baracatt are also part of the Board of Directors of Fundación Avina.
